Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe large bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (180 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: chopped nuts for added texture
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add the oil or melted butter, sugar, and eggs. Whisk until well combined and slightly fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55-65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- For an extra chocolatey flavor, sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top before baking.
- Chopped nuts are optional but add a nice crunch and texture.
- Wrap cooled bread tightly in plastic wrap or foil for storage and keep at room temperature for up to 2 days.
