Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large apples (preferably Fuji or Honeycrisp)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray or a light oil for spraying
Instructions
- Wash, peel, and core the apples. Slice into evenly-sized fry shapes, about ¼ inch thick.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl. Combine breadcrumbs with vanilla extract in another bowl.
- Dip each apple fry into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or brush with oil.
- Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the fries with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle coconut flakes or chopped nuts after cooking.
- Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes to restore crunch.
