Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 large potatoes, diced into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing or ranch seasoning mix
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by washing and dicing the potatoes into evenly sized pieces to ensure uniform cooking. Slice the smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces and gather all other ingredients for easy assembly.
- In a large skillet or baking dish, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 8-10 minutes until they begin to soften and turn golden. Then, add the sliced smoked sausage and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper over the potatoes and sausage mixture. Pour ranch dressing or sprinkle ranch seasoning evenly over the top. Stir gently to combine all flavors.
- Spread the shredded cheddar cheese over the mixture, then transfer to an oven preheated to 375°F (190°C). Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, ensuring a deliciously cheesy crust to your ranch potato skillet meal.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for added aroma.
- Use different cheeses such as pepper jack or Monterey Jack to customize the flavor profile.
- For a lower-carb version, swap potatoes for cauliflower florets.
- Try adding diced bell peppers or onions for extra vegetables and color.
