Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold)
- 3 large apples (peeled and sliced)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce
- Flaky sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and cold butter until crumbly. Press into a greased baking pan to form the crust.
- Bake crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly over the crust.
- Bake for an additional 25 minutes, then remove from oven. Warm the salted caramel sauce and drizzle generously over the hot apple layer.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and allow to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness.
- Ensure butter is cold for a flaky crust.
- For added crunch, sprinkle chopped nuts over the caramel before serving.
