- For the filling: 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Mix flour, salt, sugar in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water gradually until dough comes together. Divide into two disks, wrap, and chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the filling: Toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Roll out one disk of dough on a floured surface and fit into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Fill with apple mixture, dot with butter.
- Roll out the second disk and cover the pie. Seal edges and cut slits on top.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
