- 3-4 lb beef chuck roast
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 2 cups beef broth
- 4 hoagie buns
- Optional: slices of Swiss or provolone cheese
Instructions
- Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle with onion soup mix and pour beef broth over the meat.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the beef, shred with two forks, and return to the slow cooker to soak up the juices.
- Toast the buns until lightly golden.
- Serve the shredded beef on buns with a side of au jus for dipping. Optionally, add cheese before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add sliced onions or garlic to the slow cooker.
- Use crusty hoagie rolls for best texture.
- Save some au jus to serve alongside for dipping or pouring over the sandwich.
