- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups chicken or beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 8 ounces (about 2 cups) lasagna noodles, broken
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onions and minced garlic to the meat and cook until softened.
- Transfer the meat mixture to the crockpot and add crushed tomatoes, broth, oregano, and basil. Stir well.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Stir in broken lasagna noodles and cook for an additional 30 minutes until tender.
- Just before serving, swirl in ricotta cheese and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Ensure noodles are broken into smaller pieces to fit easily in the spoon and bowl.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of balsamic vinegar.
