  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz (225g) egg noodles or rice noodles
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce or oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Optional: sliced bell peppers, shredded carrots for added crunch

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain and marinate in 1 tablespoon soy sauce with a teaspoon of cornstarch for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin or oyster sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger in a small bowl. Set aside.
  4. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a little sesame oil, cook the beef until browned and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan.
  5. Pour the sauce into the same skillet, bring to a simmer. Add the cooked beef and noodles, tossing to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
  6. Remove from heat. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Optional: add sliced peppers or carrots for extra texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Marinating the beef enhances flavor and tenderness.
  • Perfectly cook noodles until al dente to avoid mushiness.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey or sugar.
  • For extra flavor, add sliced bell peppers or shredded carrots before serving.
