Perfect for busy weeknights, this delicious dish is a crowd-pleaser that offers rich flavors, creamy cheese, and satisfying textures in every bite.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Add diced onion and cook until translucent. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Add garlic to the cooked meat and sauté for about 1 minute. Stir in the orzo pasta and cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.
  3. Pour in broth and diced tomatoes. Stir well, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 15 minutes until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
  4. Uncover the skillet and stir in shredded cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt and flavor.
  • Customize spice levels with additional paprika or hot sauce.
  • Try different cheese blends like mozzarella or pepper jack for varied flavors.
  • Top with crispy bacon or sliced pickles for extra texture.
