These cabbage rolls are filled with seasoned ground meat and rice, baked in a tomato sauce for a hearty and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Carefully peel cabbage leaves, blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
  4. Add ground meat, cook until browned, then remove from heat.
  5. In a bowl, combine cooked meat, rice, salt, pepper, and half of the tomato sauce.
  6. Place a scoop of mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
  7. Arrange cabbage rolls in a baking dish and pour remaining tomato sauce over them.
  8. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until bubbling and heated through.
