- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully peel cabbage leaves, blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add ground meat, cook until browned, then remove from heat.
- In a bowl, combine cooked meat, rice, salt, pepper, and half of the tomato sauce.
- Place a scoop of mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
- Arrange cabbage rolls in a baking dish and pour remaining tomato sauce over them.
- Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until bubbling and heated through.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of paprika or cumin to the filling.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
- Serve with a side of crusty bread or a fresh salad.
