Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cinnamon sugar mixture (¼ cup granulated sugar + 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
- Optional: melted chocolate or caramel for dipping
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts completely.
- Remove from heat and quickly add the flour and salt, stirring vigorously until a smooth ball forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Let it cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip or use a plastic food storage bag with the corner snipped. Pipe small dollops onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the churro bites for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. While warm, toss them gently in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly. Serve with melted chocolate or caramel if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding crushed nuts or sprinkles to the cinnamon sugar coating.
- Make sure not to overbake to keep the bites tender inside.
- Reheat in an oven or air fryer to restore crispiness if storing.
