Crispy on the outside, tender and sweet on the inside, these homemade churro bites are easy to make and perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth without the mess of deep frying. Enjoy a comforting dessert that’s quick to prepare, ideal for parties, snacks, or a sweet breakfast.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 20-24 bites

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon sugar mixture (¼ cup granulated sugar + 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
  • Optional: melted chocolate or caramel for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts completely.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly add the flour and salt, stirring vigorously until a smooth ball forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Let it cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip or use a plastic food storage bag with the corner snipped. Pipe small dollops onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the churro bites for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. While warm, toss them gently in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly. Serve with melted chocolate or caramel if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding crushed nuts or sprinkles to the cinnamon sugar coating.
  • Make sure not to overbake to keep the bites tender inside.
  • Reheat in an oven or air fryer to restore crispiness if storing.
