  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until well blended to make the sauce.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed. Add diced onion and cook until translucent.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked beef and onions. Stir thoroughly to coat all the meat. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Divide cooked rice into bowls. Spoon the seasoned Korean beef over the rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Leftover beef can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in microwave or on stovetop until hot before serving.
  • Feel free to add a fried egg on top for extra richness.
