Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the shredded cheeses evenly over the dough.
- Cut the dough into strips, then stack and cut into small squares.
- Arrange the cheese-filled dough squares in the prepared baking dish, stacking them loosely to allow for expansion.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle garlic powder or Italian seasoning over the cheese layers.
- Ensure the dough is room temperature for proper rising.
